Running the Comrades Marathon
to Help Rebuild my High School

On 3 June 2012, I will be running the Comrades Marathon "The Ultimate Human Race" and arguably the greatest ultra marathon in the world where athletes come from all over the world to combine muscle and sinew and mental strength to conquer the approx 90 kilometres between the cities of Pietermaritzburg and Durban South Africa.

I will run Comrades to help fundraise for the rebuilding of my high school in the Philippines which was destroyed last February 6, 2012 when a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit my hometown of Guihulngan. (See pictures of the destruction below)

Please donate 1 Peso for every kilometer (90 KM total) that I will cover during the race. Your 90 Peso or the equivalent of 2 Dollar donation will go a long way in rebuilding my Alma Mater.

All donations will go directly to the reconstruction fund of Saint Francis College. No portion of your donation will be used for my travel expenses, lodging and race registration fee.

90K Race to help quake victims

Friday, May 18, 2012
A SERIAL marathoner will offer every kilometer of his race for a good cause.
Kenneth L. Tenebro is set to conquer the Comrades Marathon on June 3 at Durban, South Africa, which is a 90-km. run dubbed as the “The Ultimate Human Race.”
But what sets this race apart, which doubles the marathon distance, is that he will be running to help rebuild his high school, St. Francis College, which was destroyed last Feb. 6 after a magnitude of 6.9 earthquake hit his hometown in Gihulngan, Negros Oriental.
Army officer
Tenebro, who was born and raised in Negros, is currently enlisted as a US Army Officer and stationed in Kentucky, USA. He was part of the soldiers deployed during the Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008-2009.
“I used to go to school in Cebu, in Southwestern University. I still go there from time to time. I ran the Cebu City Marathon and Century 100K challenge last year,” said Tenebro.
Tenebro had gone a long way since his first marathon experience in NYC ING 2009. He is now part of the group Marathon Maniacs and had completed already 49 marathons and ultra runs.
He is set to ink his 50th run next week in the Xterra Oak Mountain at the Oak Mountain in Alabama. Before the Comrades marathon, he will join the Med City marathon in Rochester, Minnesota.
“It is arguably the greatest ultra marathon in the world where athletes come from all over the world to combine muscle and sinew and mental strength to conquer the approx 90 kilometers between the cities of Pietermaritzburg and Durban South Africa,” said Tenebro.
He appeals to everyone to donate P1 for every kilometer he covers during the race. The P90 or the equivalent of $2 will go a long way in rebuilding his alma mater.
All donations will go directly to the reconstruction fund of the school and no portion of the donation will be used for his travel expenses, lodging and race registration fee.
